The author of numerous published books, Susie is a second-time contender for the Georgia Author of the Year Award. Her internationally acclaimed award-winning children's book,
HERE I AM, was nominated BEST in CHILDREN'S CATEGORY and received the Mom’s Choice Award®. In addition, she won The Rise Award for Impeccable Advocacy for her support of people who have Down syndrome. Her current title, ABANDONED, has been nominated BEST MEMOIR for the 2018 Georgia Author of the Year Awards.
Among her literary affiliations, she actively participates with the Georgia Writers Association, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators,
the Clarkesville Writers Society and the Cornelia Company of Writers.
She is also a longtime member of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), and she administrates the largest worldwide homeschooling network for families who
homeschool their children with Down syndrome.
Susie holds two college degrees—Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement and Nursing. Her passion is creating an equal learning environment for all children and helping individuals with special needs to maintain a quality standard of life. Using her knowledge gained in law and medicine, she helps people with disabilities to overcome obstacles and to navigate the system for needed accommodations, modifications, and other assistance. She is a worldwide Special Needs Consultant Volunteer and heads multiple online social media groups, from her Georgia home, to help families and individuals in need of services.
In addition to bringing JOY into other's lives through her writing, advocacy, and donation of her free time, Susie treasures raising her children and teaching as well as finding satisfaction in rekindling her acting career by participating in regionally-filmed movies. Along with other survivors, it is her hope that Abandoned hits the big screen
to remind us of the years that were erased from history textbooks,
to remember the children who survived such heinous crimes and abuses,
to bring justice to those who perpetrated such crimes against children,
and most of all to never forget
the value of a child's life.
Traumatized by acts of terrorism in the early 1980s, Susie exposes a multi-level marketing, pyramid scheme involving a child torture faction, human trafficking, and political corruption hidden behind a corporate veil of an American billionaire. She normalized persistent neglect and abuse to survive after her parents abandoned her at a warehouse at age sixteen. Narrowly escaping with her life, she became trapped in a cycle of tumultuous relationships for decades.
Embracing hope, she sifted through the muddy waters, unveiled the skeletons lurking in high-ranking political closets, and emerged as a victor. After discovering branching carbon copies of this terroristic cult and mind-control program, she connected with other survivors. As a trauma survivor, she found meaning and purpose as a worldwide special needs advocate and received international acclaim as an award-winning author with many distinctions. Her campaigns against institutional abuse, family violence, and bullying reach millions.
